Kathmandu – Singer Rudra Shekhar Sharma has been awarded the Best Gazal Singer Award in the prestigious National Inclusive Music Awards-2024 (NIM Awards) for his Gazal “Kina.” The 7th edition of the award ceremony awarded Sharma for his outstanding Singing as a Gazal singer. Singer Sharma had brought a new Gazal titled “Kina” to the market. He is currently preparing to release the video of this song in the market soon.
Gazal writer Geeta Sapkota’s composition “Kina” has shed light on social issues and various scenes and situations occurring in daily life through Gazal. The Gazal attempts to present the stories of people’s lives and the world in a simple manner. Renowned musician Santosh Shrestha has brought life to the Gazal through music. The music by Shrestha has been acclaimed as excellent by both Gazalists and critics.
The situation where people face many challenges and have to wander around in the same place or environment and the need to stay around that situation are questions raised by the Gazal. Sharma has added emotional depth to the Gazal with his melodious voice. The soothing melody makes this Gazal suitable for listening during quiet nights, in peaceful environments, and in solitary places. The topics explored in the Gazal resonate with the social environment.
In the Gazal, it is meant to be said, “Why do you have to step in the places where there are sharp thorns, why do you have to see the scenes that you don’t want to see?” Singer Sharma has presented these lines of gazals in a very simple way, evoking the feelings of common people. Previously, Sharma had won the hearts of the audience with his Gazal “Dukhdina ma” and had won the Best New Gazal Singer Award at the 6th Rapati National Music Awards-2028.
Nepali songs ranging from folk, pop, modern, and gazals have echoed in the musical sky with Sharma’s dozens of Nepali songs. Sharma also sings songs in languages other than Nepali, such as Hindi. Despite singing romantic songs like “Jina Abhi Baaki Hai” and “Dil Chal Diya,” he is recognized internationally as a singer in international languages.
After receiving the Best Gazal Singer Award at the National Inclusive Music Award-2024, Sharma said, “This award has given me more inspiration and energy to be even stronger in my field in the coming days. I feel energized. Along with my Nepali songs, I am also preparing to bring songs in other languages to the market in the near future.
I will strive to sing all my songs in a fair manner, and I believe that all my creations have been loved by the audience and listeners so far, and this love will continue in the days to come.”
Renowned musician Shrestha, who has collaborated with Sharma for the first time through “Kina,” said, “I have composed music for numerous ghazals to date, but I truly liked this Gazal. Every word of the Gazal was meaningful, encompassing human emotions and life stories. I have tried to present these stories of ordinary people through music in a simple Kina, and Sharma has truly honored this Gazal with his deserving praise as a singer.”
Composer Shrestha, who was praised for making “Kina” a good Gazal, said that he is eager to collaborate with Gazal writer Geeta Sapkota Humagai and singer Rudra Shekhar Sharma in the coming days. “Artists with such a powerful voice like Sharma can be recognized in the music industry in a timely manner, and they can serve as a source of inspiration for new artists in the entire music industry and for artists of new books,” said musician Shrestha.
The folk pop genre song “Ke Hola Bholi” featuring the voice of Rudra Shekhar Sharma, the lyrics of Ganga Prasad Sharma and the music of famous musician Deepak Sharma, established as a modern, folk pop, pop and Gazal singer in the Nepali music market, has also been recorded and the song is about to be released soon.
