Kathmandu – Success given by documentary “Durgamandu” has proven to be the success to the summit in comparison to the success gained from other projects to the director Mr. Madhab Raj Kharel. He has jumped into Nepali film industry through drama and journalism and in his career span of two decades till now, this is his utmost success story. After massive success of the movie critically, he has also written and published novel based on the storyline of the movie with same title. That movie “Durgamandu” based mal-traditional, superstition and malpractice existing in far western region of Nepal has won Best Director Award from the category of Best Female Film in Nepal Cultural International Film Festival 2018 organized and run for five days at Nepal Tourism Board Seminar Hall, located at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. Not only this, Mr. Kharel is the one who has been honored and awarded with many other awards for his contribution.
He had started his career through drama from the year 1999. Mr. Kharel, who had contributed in journalism, Nepali documentary and music video direction and production for long time, has directed and broadcasted more than two dozen documentaries in coordination with Nepal Tourism Board.
Mr. Kharel, who has debuted in Nepali film sector since 2007, has given new gift to the Nepali film industry by directing first ever silent movie “Dhunge Yug” in the history of Nepali film. Mr. Kharel has won award for the Best Director from the same movie in D-Cine Award 2010 in the category of Best Director Jury Award. Likewise, another project of Mr. Kharel “Birano Maya” had also gathered massive love and affection from the audiences despite of worst time of devastating and apocalyptic earthquake in the nation.
He has also won Best Director Award from the movie “Birano Maya” in Model Songs Award 2018 organized in Dubai in joint organization of Songs Nepal, Pageant Nepal and International Nepalese Artists Society. He has been acknowledged for his other work like Matheli language documentary “Hewe Karaite Bhor”, “Nyayeko Parkhaima Doramba and Madi”, “Gadhimai”, etc. Every project of Mr. Kharel used to be unique and better with important messages. Mr. Kharel was able to won international level Best Female Film Director Award from the movie “Durgamandu” in a competition competed by movie of big countries and film industries like America, England, Australia, etc. He is one of the fewest Nepali director winning international level award and he is acknowledged with this for his awesome work in the documentary “Durgamandu”.
